CLARIFY/DEFINE
Unearthing words came from a friend needing help with content writers block. A rush of inspiration left her frustrated by words she could feel but couldn’t say. Editing together, the right words appeared bringing her ideas to life - the words unearthing, almost writing themselves.

Editing and proofreading can sometimes be like trying to create order from chaos, like piecing the parts of a complex puzzle. Mistakes can be anywhere and it's easy to miss your own mistakes when focusing on your content.
Working on your content increases its value
Copy editing and proofreading work together to improve the quality of your writing, enhancing your professional credibility. Hiring someone to work on your content shows you care about your message and the people who receive it.

About me 26
By nature I’m a support person, working quietly in the background, reading lines between scenes. As an editorial assistant I worked on environmental and art research projects. I was also a personal assistant in business support.
Now I help individual business owners and anyone who writes content to add value to their work through the writing and editing process.
My services
I offer copy editing and proofreading for articles, posts, websites and landing pages.
Light copy editing
An important part of any writing process, copy editing seeks to improve content quality and readability.
It looks at details, picking up any common mistakes you may have missed when writing like spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Sentences are checked for unclear wording and anything repeated or not needed to ensure your message is easy to understand.
Once your text is copy edited it’s ready for proofreading.
General proofreading
The last stage of editing, proofreading ensures that text is free from errors and ready for its intended purpose.
A final check of your draft is made focusing on any minor mistakes overlooked or introduced when editing. Surface errors like spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Book acknowledgement
An edited version of an excerpt from Magritte: the silence of the world by David Sylvester
Many of these acknowledgements, sad to say, are to friends who are no longer alive.
Several colleagues and other friends have kindly read one draft or another of the manuscript or chapters from it and suggested very necessary and welcome improvements.
I am also most grateful for the revisions to the text proposed by my editor, and my editorial assistant, Sarah Bertolla.

Kind words
Sarah has an amazing way with words
"She has helped me immensely to understand the importance
of using correct language to create good content
and its impact on customers."
Sarah helps pull out what I can feel but can't quite put into words.
She always understands what I need and works with me to create
what I want to get across to my audience, what I really want to say.
Her calm and approachable manner makes her very easy to work with.
I now see that whenever I feel blocked in my writing
I need to hire a professional like Sarah.

A few more words P2 26 P2 23 Avenir Light 1.6 0.01
With seemingly endless ways to tweak a piece of writing, working with words is a rewarding challenge. I like the feel of words, the interplay and all the elements that shift and grow. Offline, there's the writing freedom of short form poetry and fragmented grammar. A spaciousness when I’m out walking and inspiration in non-fiction journeys of women on outdoor adventures.

Going in with Yin
From outside to in, I'm here within. The energies of my subtle yet powerful restorative yoga class, cooling the overwhelm of my loud and busy day. Here where every move, every fold, every breath draws me further away.
Listening to the call I hear every sound, feel the pull within each reach. Trusting the sensations I lean into the discomfort surrendering me to the mat.
Moments of stillness keep me holding where I'm locked, shifting where I'm not. Less movement above, more quiet below. I welcome the awareness the insights bring, like how good it feels to begin to feel free. Working more deeply, the softening begins, a loosening, releasing, dissolving the once active thoughts and reminders of the day.
Mindful of respect to the limits of my boundaries and honour for showing up to the mat, I'm thankful for the props supporting my practice. I become one with the bolster, accepting of the block. Soon finding relief in guided meditation, I welcome the pause, the breeze, the peace and fall into the calm and the silence.
And all that surrounds me is presence.

Discovering the Gibberagong Track AL P2 23 0.01 1.6
On a Sydney winter’s morning, we took a great walk along the old Grosvenor Track down to Gibberagong waterholes. Setting out from the ridgeline we soon descended the gully noting how the colour changed. Subtle shades of boronia and crowea and later, the soft grey of the velvety flannel flower revealing early signs of spring.
Following Cockle Creek we met with noisy wren and spinebill and evidence of lyrebirds. Crossing easily, on the other side we found splendid angophoras far above the ground close to the waterholes. In the clearing there grew unusual fungi, mysterious mauves and star shaped with native fuschia everywhere and everything cool and green under rainfall.
We came to welcome the rain between sun shots that made walking refreshing. Reaching the waterholes we stopped awhile reflecting on the once sandy beach now partly covered in weeds. Despite heavy weather, the track was clear though we were soon to realise the dangerously high levels to which the creek could rise.
As we followed the water winding on, we were surprised by elk horns then native orchids nestling in trees. Looking up we met with great sandstone overhangs, rainwater streaming through clefts where rainforest plants spilled wildly over ledges.
Nearing the end of our native nature walk we reappeared, Bobbin Head before us, soon meeting the mangroves. Emerging with the weather, we reached shelter just as rain fell heavily.
